TAHMINA ZAKARIYYA RUSTAMOVA

Tahmina Rustamova was born on 24 August 1926. In 1949, she graduated from Azerbaijan State University, Faculty of Oriental Studies. The same year she embarked on postgraduate studies in Persian linguistics as decided by the Scientific Council. In 1954, she defended a PhD thesis, achieving a ScD  degree in 1990 and professorship in 1991. She chaired a faculty education and methodological council, and was a member of the Scientific and Methodological Council on Oriental Languages under the Ministry of Education, and led a seminar on Oriental languages at the State Student Admission Commission. Tahmina Rustamova has published over 160 papers on Persian, Arabic and Azerbaijani linguistics. She has authored 22 textbooks and handbooks for secondary and higher schools. She is the recipient of “Taraqqi” Medal and “Merited Teacher” title.
