Ahmadimahammad Shafai was born on 25 December 1911 in Khorasan. In 1932, he completed his secondary education in Tehran. A year later, he entered Tehran Military Academy. In 1941, he was promoted to the rank of captain and in 1945 to major. In 1947, he started his career at Azerbaijan State University. He defended a PhD thesis in 1954, and got a ScD degree in 1968 and professorship in 1970. Ahmadimahammad Shafai`s career included appointments as a teacher, senior teacher, associate professor and professor.
He published widely on adverb phrases and complex sentences. His translation of Mirza Alakbar Sabir`s “Hophopname” into Persian language was published in Baku and Tehran. He returned to Iran in 1983.
